About the Artist

Bas is a Dutch-born artist and neuroscientist based in the North East of England. Through bold colour and geometric shapes, he reimagines coastlines, boats and solitary buildings, exploring how our minds turn simple forms into familiar places. Inspired by his Dutch roots and adopted home, his paintings invite a closer look, leaving space for our own memories and connections.

Using warm, comforting tones, BAS saturates the canvas with colour to shift the mood. Created as a deliberate antidote to the dullness of winter, it brings the warmth of a sun-drenched landscape into any space.

Painted during the grey, overcast days of the British Winter, this painting was born from a desire to recapture the intense energy of a late summer sky. It serves as a visual escape, trading winter’s muted tones for a saturated, rhythmic celebration of light and life.

The composition is dominated by the brilliant yellows, deep pinks, and rich purples typical of a high-summer sunset. These hues breathe warmth into the stylised trees and patchwork fields.

We use museum-quality materials. Under normal indoor conditions, your artwork is designed to last for decades without noticeable fading.

While no print should be placed in prolonged direct sunlight, our inks and materials offer excellent resistance to light exposure.
