About the Artist

Nicolae Negură is a Romanian visual artist and illustrator based in Lisbon, Portugal, whose practice centres on figurative painting and drawing rooted in personal narrative, identity, and the human condition. Influenced by vintage comics, he uses vivid colour, soft flat brushstrokes and delicate gradients, contrasted with bold, irregular contours to create expressive scenes that communicate emotion and make space for vulnerability, anxiety, and intimate storytelling.

Across his gay erotic art practice, Nicolae delves into homoeroticism, love, and queer male identities through a sex-positive lens focused on the male body. He aims to portray sex with more nuance and tenderness than conventional pornography, highlighting shared pleasure, expressive faces, humour, intensity, and the simple joy of masturbation - celebrating queer intimacy as something human, playful, and deeply felt.
