Collection: David Lavine

David Lavine does things with, to, and on paper in New York City. Lavine’s intricate, hand-cut paper collages transform vintage printed matter into bold visual narratives. His one-of-a-kind collages - cut entirely by hand from comic books, colouring books, maps, magazines, and more - are assembled with archival tape and glue, never digitally manipulated. Working from thousands of cut elements, he creates intricate, often darkly comic and homoerotic compositions.

Recently, Lavine has turned to coloured pencil drawings, reimagining past collages and cut elements into seamless works on paper. Across both mediums, his art reflects a deeply personal exploration of desire, memory, and identity, inspired by the visual masculinity that shaped him.
